In 2006, I completed nearly 200 hours of training over 6 weeks in Dog Obedience Instructor Training with Canine Specialty Training, LLC. and Susan Bass. Susan's background goes back to Department of Defense Service Dog training prior to opening up her own training school. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of my professional journey as a dog trainer.  After years of pet dog training, I began working for Canine Specialty Training on task training Service Dogs to help mitigate a persons disability. Over the past 10 years, we have trained and placed all types of Service Dogs. Many for people with invisible disabilities such as Medical Alert Dogs including seizure alert & response and diabetic alert & response. Additionally, many were crossed trained multiple tasks for multiple disabilities.

It was there, that I found my purpose not only in training, but in life. These dogs SAVE LIVES and CHANGE LIVES. They respond to medical emergencies and get help, retrieve meds, CALL 911 and other emergency management services. They wake sleeping parents up when their child is having a seizure, and they give independence back to adults who could no longer live by themselves. For several years I had the honor of working side by side with local Epilepsy Foundation of Florida office in my area on placing Service Dogs, community outreach and fund raising. With my passion for Tracking and Scent Work, I went back to school for Diabetic Alert and Gluten Detection Service Dogs and have successfully trained multiple dogs in this highly technical area of training.
